It's been fascinating watching the little tadpoles in our pond slowly evolve and develop into mini frogs- they're at the stage now where most of them have four legs and can hop about, but still have long tails My mum and I have been having many a bonding session fishing them out of the pond this past couple of weeks. It's amazing how fast they're growing, just a couple of days ago most of them looked like they were wearing straightjackets- their arms were tucked away under a thin layer of skin but were wiggling about, very eerie!
I think there are probably about 50-60 in the pond all together, and here are 35 of them we spent about an hour fishing them out with a sieve today as they came to the surface... I love watching them glide through the water, it's quite amazing! And they are insanely cute when being held and they open their mouths to try and croak (but no noise comes out haha!)
I love mini frogs.
My mum is still clinging to the little hope she has that maybe some of the tadpoles will be newts! haha, bless. She's very excited about them too. Kudos to her for being hand model.
This isn't a manip or very edited at all, we put them all in a glass bowl and when held up to the light the edges couldn't be seen in the photo... I would have liked more time to photograph them, but it suddenly started pissing down! Will probably fish them all out again tomorrow and take some more shots
The photo is brilliant! I really like how you can't see the edges or the glass bowl at all. It makes things even more surreal and wacky. The black and white contrast also works really well here as it highlights the concept profoundly.
